(1) A number of Australian and overseas postgraduate
scholarships are awarded annually by the Trustees of the Lionel Murphy
Foundation. These scholarships are known as the Lionel Murphy Australian
Postgraduate Scholarships, or the Lionel Murphy Overseas Postgraduate
Scholarships, as the case may be. The precise number in each
category, and the method of payment, is determined by the Trustees in their
absolute discretion.
(2) The Australian scholarships are tenable at an
Australian tertiary institution for one year only and are currently valued
at $20,000 each per annum. The overseas scholarships are tenable at an
overseas tertiary institution for one year only, and are currently valued at
$40,000 each per annum.
(3) Applicants must be Australian citizens, or permanent
residents who have been
granted permanent residency by 31 October of the year prior to this
application AND have lived in Australia for previous 12 months.
(4) Applicants should
have completed, or be about to complete, an undergraduate degree in science,
law or legal studies, or other appropriate discipline from an Australian
tertiary institution, and intend to pursue a postgraduate degree in science,
law or legal studies, or other appropriate discipline.
