2006 is the 20th Anniversary of the Lionel Murphy Foundation, marking also the 20 years since the death of the Hon Justice Lionel Murphy.

To celebrate the anniversary, a number of special public events will be held on 21 and 22 October, and an additional Postgraduate Scholarship to be awarded for a period of 3 years, in the field of science and/or environmental science, will be offered.

 

 

12.15pm for 12.45pm on Saturday 21 October 2006, Free Public Seminar 'The Murphy Legacy in Troubled Times, organised by the ANU, to be held in the Studio Theatre, National Museum of Australia.     Registration of attendance required.  See attached flyer for details.

 

 

3.30pm on Saturday 21 October 2006, the 20th Lionel Murphy Memorial Lecture, Civil Liberties:  an Endangered Species will be held at the Visions Theatre, National Museum of Australia, Canberra.   The lecture will be delivered by the Hon Neville Wran AC QC, and will be open to the public.   (Once the seating is full, there will be no more entry to the theatre, so be early to ensure your seat.)

 

 

7.00pm for 8.00pm, Saturday 21 October 2006, The 20th anniversary dinner is being held  at The Boathouse, Canberra.   Attendance is by invitation.    Please ring (02) 9223 5151 to reserve your invitation.  LIMITED SEATING.  BOOK EARLY.

4.30pm on Sunday 22 October 2006, 'Mr Neal is Entitled to be an Agitator', a documentary by Daryl Dellora, will be screened at the Electric Shadows Theatre in Civic. Normal entry price applies.  Tickets available at the door.
